Youth sports: Over coaching leads to under achievement

It’s great if kids want to play sports or engage in any activity at a young age but not through formal practice. Kids can develop a lot of skill but not through instruction. Unstructured play is the way. The backyard and sandlots are the natural way of learning and they are time tested. Kids can’t process the amount of information parents (youth coaches) dish out at one time.Too much coaching can hamper skill development not to mention kill the fun. Kids develop paralysis thru analysis after just a couple of instructions. Over instruction leads to under achievement.
